Rantglass - because that's how things are.

I haven't been back home...

I haven’t been back home for two weeks, and my nails have grown longer. I usually cut my nails every weekend – and I cut them short – really short. In case you’re wondering, I don’t like long nails and nail polish. Don’t like make up either. Now, I seem to be clawing myself. Bleh.

Hm.. I do think I am destinied to be alone (unless something else comes along). My roommate asked me to write my Chinese name, and well, Chinese names tend to have meanings. Mine would mean ‘beautiful’ (not true), ‘clever’ (yeah, right) and….. ‘lonely’. Which, of course, should explain my rants yesterday, regarding ‘true’ friendships which were never meant to be, for me.

Ironically, the song playing now is Alanis Morissette’s Flinch.

Soon I’ll grow up and I won’t even flinch at your name.....

I don’t flinch at my name, but I do feel a bit odd when people type it out. Some people get teased for their names when they were younger, haunting them eventhough they’ve grown older. I know of a friend who had her name changed – because her grandmother said that the first name that was given to her would give her an early death. I mean, like.. wow. How can they really tell?

Well, then, what’s in a name? It’s just… a name. Or does it really shape your personality? Does it open your path, prolonging your journey in life?

I don’t know. I’m content with my name. And if I’m fated to be a solitary traveler of this life….. so be it.
