Rantglass - because that's how things are.

I was watching one of MTV's...

I was watching one of MTV’s many programmes yesterday and this one in particular caught my eye.

It was called MTV: Becoming, whereby fellow music lovers get to be their favourite artiste and film a music video. A girl was chosen to be Mandy Moore, and well, she got to live the life of a star for a few days, indulging herself in manicure sessions, make up, hairdressing.. and the likes of it. I believe she and a few selected friends enjoyed themselves during the making of the video.

The next episode of MTV: Becoming will feature four girls getting to film the Lady Marmalade video, originally done by Christina Aguilera, Li’l Kim, Mya, and Pink. Yikes.

Would you like to be a star for a day? Who would you like to be? As for the first question, I think most people would say yes immediately. Who would decline such a rare invitation? Imagine what you could tell your grandchildren:

“Well, you know.. I got to be Britney Spears for a day, my dears..”
“Britney whooooo?”
“Oh, that blonde who sang this and that..”
“It was such an experience, so valuable.. I had great fun being a star for a day.. although I didn’t get to see Justin..”

Think of all those many interviews, hectic schedules, constant bickering of self physical appearance, flashing of camera lights, exercising of vocal chords a musician has to endure every day.. ugh.

But then again, I suppose they wouldn’t really mind because they’re doing what they love doing most: making music.

As for me.. given the chance, I don’t know who I’d choose to be. I don’t really have any female musicians I look up to as a source of inspiration – Sarah McLachlan? Alanis Morissette? Or would I say no to the invitation anyway?

Which reminds me.. I need to get a haircut.

Congratulations goes out to Sarah McLachlan, who gave birth to her first child, a baby girl called India, on April 8. :)
